Thai opposition Future Forward Party could be dissolved over loan from leader
Thailand's election commission has filed a motion with the Constitutional Court to dissolve the opposition Future Forward Party. Co-founder Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit is accused of giving an illegal loan of 191 million baht (US$6.3 million) to his party. The court first has to decide whether to accept the case before the party is in danger of being banned. In November, Mr Thanathorn was removed as a member of parliament for allegedly holding illegal shares in a defunct media company. There are dozens of other charges and complaints against him and the party, which supporters view as a coordinated political effort to take the party down.
